excuse me?

let's throw a wrench into things, shall we?

i just heard from teach for america and where do you think they offered me a position? maybe to my first, second, third or fourth preference? nope. any one of those would have landed me in a big city on the east coast. instead they offered me a two year teaching position here:

the rural, west coast of oahu.

...i, uh...what? i thought i had decided against doing teach for america and just moving right on to law school. but can i really turn down to years in hawaii with a full salary and benefits, teaching english (grades 6-12)? on the other side of the fence, i don't know if i could i handle the laid-back lifestyle. and marriage prospects on the island might be slim--two more years of solitude?

so there you go. just when you thought you had narrowed it down and figured things out...

Oh Jeff what a decision to make. This is going to be a hard one, but you will make the right choice. If you go to Hawaii will have to come a visit. Who knows maybe you will find the perfect wife for you and will all have to go to Hawaii for your wedding. Now that would be fun. If you do you need to tell us real soon so we can save our money for the trip.
Love you!

on the contrary, I'm sure there will be many sixth grade girls who would love to marry you.

Or you could take the laid back time to brush up on all of the readings and studyings you'd like to do but never have the time for. Audio books while you surf, reviewing obscure cases that could help you in your lawyer-ly loopholes, throw the star fish back into the ocean...

well, good luck on this tough decision, though, really

Hi Jeff,
Don't know if you remember me but I thought I would put my 2 cents in.

After years of travel for work my advice is ..... wow, this is tough, I guess you're on your own for this one.

Darryl lived on the west side of Oahu and loved it. Our daughter was married in Laie and it was the perfect wedding! As for the marriage prospects, when it is time she will be there.

Now for law school. As hard as this is for me to say.... Go Duke! (and never, ever tell my UNC family I said that!)
Cindy

p.s. When you see Matt, tell him we said Hi!

Jeff,

I think the choice is obvious. Go to Hawaii!

All that good you will do teaching kids in Hawaii. They are already laid back there, imagine all the relaxation and surfing and swimming.

Oh my gosh, it is like a 2 year vacation! You are still a young guy. Do it! Do it! Do it!

yeah, I see your point about getting married. that's why I plan to move to rural africa for 2 years. er. um.

Oh c'mon, who are we kidding? Stephen is there. It's like the dream team reuniting. The two of you together again could definitely help the U.S. beat the Russians. And besides, living in Hawaii puts you that much closer to int'l waters which is where the real fun begins.

And if that isn't enough then do it for Stephen. He doesn't have a car and it's hard to date like that. He could use yours and then maybe you both could get married - to girls, of course.

I'll take your place... 2 years of solitude and a beach suited me quite well already!
